Shares jump in Seoul on optimism about European economy

Seoul - Shares soared Tuesday on the Seoul stock exchange as investor sentiment was buoyed by optimism about the European economy.
The benchmark Kospi index jumped 49.04 points, or 2.7 per cent, to close at 1,875.41. Advancing issues outnumbered losers 572 to 261.
The main index of the technology-heavy Kosdaq market went up 7.04 points, or 1.4 per cent.
On currency markets, the US dollar was quoted at 1,150.80 South Korean won, after trading at 1,155.80 on Monday.
