New Delhi - India's benchmark Sensex stock index gained more than 400 points in trading Tuesday, following rises in other Asian markets.
The 30-share index of the Bombay Stock Exchange closed 2.72 per cent higher at 15,939.36, a gain of 421.44 points.
All the 13 sectoral indices on the BSE, including metal, realty and banking closed in the green.
The broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also gained 128.55 points, or 2.77 per cent to end the day's trade at 4,765.30.
Market analysts said the stock prices rose taking cue from gains in other Asian bourses including Hongkong's Hang Seng index and Seoul Stock Exchange's Kospi.
