BMW expects to outperform global industry growth
Jan 9, 2012, 19:38 GMT
Detroit - German luxury car maker BMW expects 2012 sales growth that outperforms the industry's global growth, BMW sales and marketing chief Ian Robertson said Monday at the Detroit auto show.
He forecast that car sales worldwide would increase by 4- to 5-per-cent, with BMW expecting its own growth in the higher single digits.
In key emerging markets such as China and Brazil, Robertson expects BMW Group to reach double-digit sales growth.
The company's new entry in the compact 3 series is due on the market in February.
BMW plans to continue investing in the coming years in its production capacity both in Europe and worldwide, and is eying a new location in South America, probably Brazil. The expansion is targetted at a global goal of 2 million cars annually, with a strategy whenever possible of building cars where they are sold.
