Brussels - Twenty-five out of 27 European Union countries have signed up to a new budget discipline pact, the bloc's president said Monday, indicating that Polish concerns on the so-called fiscal compact had been overcome.
'Twenty-five member states join and will sign the fiscal compact treaty,' EU President Herman Van Rompuy wrote on the Twitter microblogging website.
Diplomats said that the Czech Republic joined Britain in staying out of the pact.
