Australia's Leighton wins billion-dollar contract

Sydney - Australian construction company Leighton Holdings Ltd said Tuesday that wholly owned subsidiary Thiess Pty Ltd had won a mining contract worth 1 billion Australian dollars (1.07 billion US dollars) over six years.
Leighton's 54-per-cent shareholder is Germany's Hochtief AG, which since May has been controlled by Spanish company ACS.
The contract was awarded by OZ Minerals Ltd for its Prominent Hill copper and gold mine in South Australia.
Last year, Prominent Hill produced 107,744 tons of copper and 160,007 ounces of gold.
