Brussels - Greece still needs to convince its international lenders that it will implement fresh austerity measures and economic reforms before a second bailout package can be agreed, the European Union's top economic official said Thursday.
Commenting on the last-minute nature of Greece's deficit-cutting commitments and its debt write-off deal with private banks, EU Economy Commissioner - and former professional football player - Olli Rehn noted that 'many goals are scored in injury time.'
'It is now up to the Greek government and parliament to convince its European partners through strong commitment and concrete action in terms of ensuring fiscal consolidation and structural reform,' Rehn said.
