Lego extends license for Star Wars products

Copenhagen - Danish toy company Lego on Monday said it had extended its licensing deal with US-based Lucasfilm to use products based on the popular Star Wars movies in its line-up.
In 1999, the groups signed their first deal allowing Lego to use Star Wars as a theme. The new deal was due to run for 12 years, a statement said.
'It is very rare to find an evergreen property that delivers growth year on year in toys, even in years without events driving box office buzz,' said Jill Wilfert, head of licensing and entertainment at Lego.
More than 200 million Lego Star Wars boxes have been sold since 1999, including starships and figurines from the Star Wars universe.
