Cyber attack targets Malaysian stock market website
Feb 14, 2012, 3:08 GMT
Kuala Lumpur - The website of Malaysia's stock market was the target of a cyber attack, making it inaccessible to users due to excess traffic from multiple sources, the exchange said in a statement Tuesday.
Bursa Malaysia said many of its users were not able to access the website late Monday due to the congestion.
'Contingency measures were activated to provide continued access to the website,' it said.
It added that some of its international users may still not be able to access the site Tuesday, but users within the country were not expected to experience any disruption.
Bursa Malaysia said its other systems were not affected by the attack and trading in its securities, derivatives and Islamic markets continued normally.
