Greek government discusses implementation of austerity measures
Feb 18, 2012, 12:12 GMT
Athens - The Greek government met on Saturday to discuss implementation of austerity measures ahead of a decision by the eurozone on whether to free a 130-billion-euro (171 million dollars) bailout package crucial to avoid default.
The Greek newspaper Kathimerini reported that the coalition parties will discuss proposals on how Greece's promises to implement austerity measures and reduce its huge debt would be monitored by the European Union and International Monetary Fund, its main creditors.
Greece is eager to secure the bailout funds before March 20, when it has to pay 14.5 billion euros in bonds maturities.
