Power of the Small: Media watchdog urges US to free two journalists
By Diana Nelson Feb 21, 2006, 19:16 GMT

How is it that The United States of America can imprison journalists of any alleged loyalties with our historical dependence on a free press serving American liberty and freedom for all our generations since independence from England?
How is it that our so-called “elected” officials are functioning as wannabe fascists who can imprison a journalist, no matter what news organization pays that journalist’s salary? Has this country, our America, gone so far into the toilets of the Bush regime that we, The People, stand by and allow this to occur?
According to the story appearing in Reuters on the 14th of February, this is what the highest representatives of America have done.
It would appear that only a matter of time separates America from the sort of censorship which the Bush administration to seeks despite the constraints of The Constitution and the rule of law in our country, and which that same administration declares is necessary for protection from “terrorists”.
The “terror” lies in the Bush administration. The “terror” lies in our own hearts as we daily let the fear of this administration’s censorship and potential retaliation affect our daily lives and innocent interactions with families and friends become tainted with a self-censorship which resembles nothing familiar to the American heart and mind.
We must find the courage of our forefathers to withstand the threats that now exist to America. This is as serious as it gets, folks. Get a clue—the threat is within.
