300 Florida schools on lockdown for threat
Nov 10, 2010, 18:19 GMT
Washington - One of the largest school systems in the United States had put its 300 schools on lockdown after receiving a threat, police said Wednesday.
The Broward County Public Schools in Florida said it had placed its schools on lockdown as a precautionary measure.
There was no evidence the threat was legitimate, but the measures followed an e-mail that said 'something big was going to happen' around government buildings, the Pembroke Pines police said.
The school system is the sixth largest in the United States with some 257,000 students.
