Florida police thwart alleged attack planned for start of school
Aug 18, 2011, 1:44 GMT
Washington - Florida police arrested a 17-year-old whom they accused Wednesday of planning pipe-bombings at his former high school.
The youth was taken into custody late Tuesday after a tip to police. Officers reportedly seized explosive materials, timers and written plans backing up the allegations.
Authorities said that he was planning to attack a school in Tampa, Florida, particularly targeting two teachers and 30 individual pupils on the first day of classes next week.
Tampa media were reporting that the suspect was expelled from the school in the previous scholastic year.
