Hitachi Power Europe will built Europe's largest power plant unit

Oberhausen, Germany - Hitachi Power Europe has booked an order from Germany's E.ON Kraftwerke to build four utility steam generators for new power plants, it was announced Thursday.
The order has a total value of more than 1.2 billion euros (1.53 billion dollars). The first unit will be at Datteln in North Rhine- Westphalia. Hitachi Power Europe (HPE) will supply three more steam generators, if it gets an the approval of the customer's supervisory bodies, a spokesman said.
Datteln would be five percentage points up on coal power plants in operation and even 10 per cent up on the average efficiency of the European power generation system (coal). The plant on being commissioned in the spring of 2011 will be the largest in Europe, according to HPE.
Building is to begin at Datteln in the spring of 2007. The plant shall be 'under steam' for the first time in the summer of 2010. Commercial operations will start in the spring of 2011. The required approval procedures are ongoing at the moment, the spokesman said. At peak periods about 3000 people will be working at the Datteln power plant site.
