It is important to find the ancient city of Tartessus, and to begin to answer the many questions lingering about both its uniqueness, and its integration into the Phoenician, Carthaginian, and Greek worlds. This re-discovery process is elemental to understanding of Iberian culture, and to deeper comprehension of ancient Mediterranean trade. I hope that the explorations now being pursued reveal the site lost so long ago. Bill Ghormley, Boston, Massachusetts, USA June 2009
