German Chancellor Schroeder arrives in Washington for Bush talks
Jun 27, 2005, 2:22 GMT
Berlin - German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder arrived late Sunday in Washington in advance of talks Monday with U.S. President George W. Bush.
Their meeting is expected to focus on the results of the election in Iran, where voters chose hardline Teheran Mayor Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the country's next chief executive.
The outcome of the election has raised concerns in both Washington and European capitals including Berlin that the likelihood has diminished for a resolution to the long-running concerns about Iran's nuclear ambitions.
Germany, France and Britain have spent months negotiating with Iran on the nuclear issue.
