May 13, 2006, 15:49 GMT
Rome - Pope Benedict XVI plans to travel to Spain in July to take part in the Catholic Church's World Family Day in Valencia, the Vatican confirmed Saturday.
The visit, which is scheduled to take place July 8-9, has been planned for some time.
The visit would be Benedict's third foreign trip as leader of the Catholic Church: in August last year he took part in World Youth Day in Cologne and at the end of May he is scheduled to visit Poland.
Later in the year in September, the pope plans to visit his home in Bavaria.
