More than 100 illegal immigrants detained on Turkish peninsula
Jun 18, 2006, 1:34 GMT
Istanbul - More than 100 illegal immigrants from the Near East and North Africa were arrested on Turkey's Gallipoli peninsula, the Turkish press agency Anadolu reported late Saturday.
The group was nabbed on the coast before they could board a Ukrainian-flagged boat in the vicinity that was likely meant to ferry them to Greece.
The boat was stopped by the Turkish coast guard and the four- person crew arrested.
The illegal immigrants were expected to be deported back to their home countries.
