Jan 8, 2007, 10:41 GMT
Paris - A helicopter crash in southern France Sunday killed three people and severely injured a woman on the ground, officials said.
The pilot and his three passengers survived the crash into Chez Bob restaurant near the village of Salin-de-Giraud in the southern Camargue. Among the dead were a couple, whose 5-year-old daughter survived.
A woman whose leg was severed in the crash was taken to hospital.
The Alouette 2 copter crashed shortly after taking off from the restaurant parking lot, where friends of the passengers had gathered to watch.
The pilot, said to be in shock, said a technical defect caused the crash.
An investigation is underway said authorities.
