Apparently this story is severely slanted, and should be corrected. The Italian press are reporting that the incident was an accident. The child's tongue was not cut off, but required stitches after he, angry at the teacher threatening him to be quite or else.. ran towards the teacher carrying scissors, and BAM! you have your story.

Firstly, I strongly suggest that before you start cleansing the human gene pool by means of castration, you attend your local community centre for some basic lessons in English; I would focus on grammar and punctuation.
Secondly, as mentioned above, don't you think you are being a tad hypocritical? You claim to be an advocate of peace (i.e. you see there is something digusting in ExTeacher's want in throwing sulfuric acid at a child's face), yet you say you'd wish to chop ExTeacher up and send him or her in small pieces back to his or her's family.

I work in a kindergarten class four days a week and though the kids can get a bit annoying at times, I can safely say that I have never once been tempted to cause any of the children harm in any way. What this substitute teacher did was horriffic, and completely inexcuseable.
Ex-Teacher, all I have to say, is if you hated your students and fantasized about making them cry, what could've possibly made you choose a career in teaching? I want to teach children because I love them, I love the smiles on their faces and they way they jump up and hug me when I come into the class. And while some have been taught bad habits by their parents, it is up to teachers to do whatever they can to prepare the children for the real world, where people are not as forgiving as their parents, but not usually psychopaths either. This means firm but gentle guidance, not chopping off tongues.

Though I think Ex-Teacher is a little extreme I must say that what he/she is touting isn't too far from what teachers I used to have in school are saying nowadays. I'm not saying it's right but the educational system in the US has become one of a daycare service. Parents, it seems, don't teach their children anymore because of lack of time and/or affection. Where I live you can no longer really punish a student (detention, In-school suspension, out-of school suspension, etc). Teachers tell me that a student could be beating the living shit out of you and yet if you raised your hand to them and slapped them during the whole melee then you would get seriously reprimanded by your superiors and possibly face assault charges from the parents.
I also agree with Future Teacher about why he/she is wanting to get into teaching. Most teachers have the same mentality when they start. All I can say is I pray to God that as the days come and go that Future Teacher has the same mentality 10 - 20 years down the road as he/she does at this very moment.
Though what Ex-Teacher says seems reprehensible, never being a teacher or wanting to teachs the brats of today, I'd like to hear what other former and current teachers feel and have to say about this whole scenario.
I have been teaching for 17 years and one thing that I know is that good teachers do not experience the things ex teacher describes on an ongoing basis. A good teacher is able to use creative teaching and positive attitudes to change student attitude. I am really glad ex teacher is an ex. Those are the attitudes which make children hate school and behave badly in order to be sent home or destroy their place of torture.

I think children are great, they are the future after all.
I think before we make judgements, we need all sides of the story. All of you know that the news can not be trusted to present a story in a non biased way. That doesn't sell newspapers.
Also, in no way do I think that children should ever be treated in that way if it was an accident. And ex-teacher, sulfuric acid? What are you thinking. Maybe you should look at your classroom management skills if the children are that annoying. If you have the student's respect then you don't need to make stupid threats to keep them in line. Common sense is a marvelous thing, too bad it's not that common.

Sorry I have 3 kids and they act right because I make them. No way I would tolerate my child acting like and a**. No I do not beat or abuse my children but they are taught that there are consequences for their actions. It actually involves taking the time to teach and raise. As far as I am concerned the cutting of the tounge was over the line but an ass kickin' should of took its place. IMO

To be completely honest with you, the single biggest problem with the US's education is comprised of one group of people: parents. My mother has been a teacher all my life and several of my friends are teachers. Their biggest complaint are parents. Whether the kid has a bad home life so he acts out in school or the parents coddle him and treat him like a baby and lash out if the teacher so much as gives him a stern look, parents are destroying any authority to actually teach their children.
Anywho... as far as the actual story is concerned, yeah, good job parents, sue the school and not the teacher. Waste money that could be used to educate children whose parents aren't ignorant morons. (unless what someone else said is true, that the media is misrepresenting this story...)

Based on the language / spelling of the Ex Teacher -- I don't believe that individual was an actual teacher at all. Especially not in a discipline that would use chemicals.
It is spelled sulFUric acid. Not with a PH. Any teacher worth 2 oz of beans would know that.

Wow the comments from some of the teachers here are utterly appalling. I agree to the extent that there are some horrible kids out there that deliberately make teaching tough. They certainly need some sense knocked into them. But any of you that condone slicing off a tongue or 'getting jollies' by making kids cry (much less the wrong ones just to make yourself feel better) should probably take a good hard look in the mirror. Some of you should re-think your profession.
Every job has drawbacks, if you don't like dealing with annoying children - don't be a teacher. Whether they were this way before or teaching has brought it out, there are some pure psychotics in the school system. I deal with customer service, basically, I handle all of the 'grown up' versions of the horrible, spoiled little kids out there. If I ever descend into thinking it is fine to cut off their tongues or ears or other body parts, I'll be sure to quit.

I think IDC is a bit over-the-top, you don't need to seriously damage children, but they do in fact need discipline. If your child is misbehaving, it is entirely the fault of the parents, if they don't acknowledge that children need to be disciplined, incidents like this are bound to occur. you can only push someone so far before they snap.

There is no such thing as an accidental cutting off of a tongue. You grab it and you have to hold it tightly so it doesn't slide out and then I have no clue, but it's a thick muscle, so that takes more than just a snip. This is disgusting and makes me sick. one cute innocent little 7 year old who spoke out in class, now he's gotta suffer emotional and physical damage! Yikes.

The kids are getting more and more out of control these days. When I was in school if we got in trouble from the teacher we got in more trouble when we got home. Now if a student does something wrong the parent goes back to blame the teacher for hurting their child's feelings. Or to complain about a failing grade accusing the teacher's ability to teach rather than their child's ability to learn. I'm not saying cutting off a tounge or slice of is right, but I think teachers need to be given the right to discipline their students to an extent the way they did for our parents and/or grandparents.

How many teachers would soon complain if this was there own child. Good on the parents for supporting their child. The teacher obviously failed, not just in her ability to find other strategies to distract the child from talking 'too much'. However, she also failed in her duty of care to protect the child.
Our children have rights. They have a right to express themselves (respectively), they also have a right to feel safe and secure.

That is far more believable than what has been written here. (that is if you believe children are clumsy, they have accidents, and even do things like shoot up their schools and kill themselves) The teacher would have been reprimanded, jailed, punished further than just a suspension IF she held the child down and forcibly cut his tongue out. (which I also doubt since she couldn't control the child enough to stop being so 'lively') There was an audience I would assume, so the investigation will hopefully find the TRUTH. Hoping that the children confess what they really saw. And hopefully, learn that running with sharp objects or towards sharp objects.. isn't smart.
I think people really enjoy getting angry and mobbing others though, so carry on!
