Mikhail Gorbachev cancels lecture in Denmark
Mar 5, 2007, 12:27 GMT
Moscow - Former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev has cancelled a planned visit to Denmark where he was slated to attend a meeting of business leaders along with former US vice president Al Gore, organizers said Monday.
Gorbachev had suffered a fall Sunday and was advised by his doctors to rest for a week, Ole Hust of Top Event said, quoting Gorbachev's staff.
The last Soviet president had been scheduled to give a lecture Tuesday evening in the northern Danish city of Frederikshavn.
Gore was slated to lecture on the environment, drawing on his recent Oscar-awarded movie An Inconvenient Truth that deals with global warming, Hust said.
Former US President Bill Clinton, Gore's boss for eight years, has earlier also lectured at Fredrikshavn.
