Pope warns of an identity crisis in Europe

Rome - Pope Benedict XVI, speaking on the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome Saturday, warned of an 'identity crisis' in Europe.
'Is it not surprising that in today's Europe - which tries to present itself as a community of values - the existence of universal and absolute values is frequently disputed?,' the head of the Catholic church told Italian bishops.
He asked how European governments could hope to get closer to their citizens if they excluded Christianity, a vital element of European identity.
The continent's 'apostasy of itself' - the EU has refused to mention Christianity in the Berlin Declaration - had caused its citizens to frequently doubt their own identity, Pope Benedict said.
Good could come only from a community which respected the dignity of the individual, and thus realised that man was created in the image of God.

Nonetheless, I would have to ask the Holy Father, why it is imperative to have a recognized Christian identity in Europe?
Father, your Church suffers because of it's leadership. Your Church abdicated its responsibility for the sins of the clerics in America until it's government forced your compliance. They hid behind their sovereign walls, instead of bearing their cross. They did the Devils work, for him.
Instead of operating under the ulterior motives of the last 2000 years, you should take your flock into your confidence and embrace true Christianity. You should free women to be equals and allow priests to marry. You should put the church in the mainstream instead of the backwaters of culture and society. Refuse the power of the church and embrace the influence of your actions.
Only in this way can we expect the renaissance of religion to return. By the way, I loved the comments on the Muslims. Rock on.

Dear Pope,
You and your pedophile brothers can keep your form of Kristianity under your robes. Europe, nor the world needs it. If you and your brothers are imprisoned, then 3rd world and other nations may have a chance. Stay away from the children you sick .........................
