Brussels-Cologne highway blocked by cracked bridge

Aachen, Germany - The principal highway between the European Union capital Brussels and the German city of Cologne was closed Wednesday after an overhead bridge was cracked in an accident.
Road engineers said they would try to set a prop under the bridge so that traffic could resume on Germany's A4 autobahn east of the border city of Aachen.
A low-loader truck carrying an excavator hit one of the pillars of the bridge Tuesday evening.
