Bremerhaven, Germany - Customs officers have seized 300,000 pairs of fake Nike trainers in one of the biggest cases of product piracy uncovered in Germany, officials said Thursday.
The shoes were found in 33 containers that arrived in the northern German port of Bremerhaven from China, a customs spokesman said.
The market value of the original product was around 60 million euros (80 million dollars), said the spokesman, adding that investigations were under way as to who was behind the fakes.
Customs officers said the trainers would be destroyed in a waste incineration plant.
