Italian fashion designer Gianfranco Ferre seriously ill

Rome - Italian fashion designer Gianfranco Ferre was seriously ill and being treated in hospital in Milan, according to reports on Saturday.
The 62-year old was admitted to the intensive care unit of the San Raffaele hospital in the metropolis on Friday evening, the press agency ANSA said.
His condition was critical and reported to have worsened overnight. Ferre's colleagues have confirmed the report although the hospital declined to provide confirmation.
Ferre, who began his career as an architect, ranks among the best- known Italian couturiers.
He worked as a designer for Christian Dior between 1989 and 1996 before turning his focus to his own label which produces clothing, accessories and perfume.
