Segolene Royal considering another run at presidency
Jun 22, 2007, 7:51 GMT
Paris - Losing French presidential candidate Segolene Royal said Friday she would 'probably' stand again in the 2012 election.
Asked on France 2 television if she would offer herself as a presidential candidate for the Socialist Party in five years, she replied: 'It's probable ... I want to continue. The party members will decide.'
Royal also said that the Socialist Party members must be 'consulted ... as quickly as possible' about the direction the party will take in the future.
To win a presidential election, she said, 'you must have a party with a direction (that is) coherent with that of its candidate, a coherent programme and a leader.'
In a recent interview, Royal said that during the presidential campaign she had been forced to defend parts of the Socialist Party platform that were 'not credible.'
