At Jewish studies school, Merkel appeals for tolerance
Jul 11, 2007, 18:31 GMT
Heidelberg, Germany - German Chancellor Angela Merkel called Wednesday for greater religious and social tolerance in European nations and a firm rejection of fundamentalism.
Addressing an audience at a school of Jewish studies in the south-western city of Heidelberg, she said, 'Take the example of the threat from Iran, whose president wants to eliminate the state of Israel and denies the Holocaust.'
She said the international community had to respond to this threat with resoluteness and solidarity. A wrong notion of tolerance was not useful in practical politics.
She told 500 students and professors that the German state would stand up to fundamentalists and other enemies of liberty.
Jewish, Christian and Muslim students attend the school in Heidelberg to learn the basics about Jewish history and faith.

I could not agree more with Carl.
It is time for Germany to snap out of this insane appeasement
stance and remember ALL the details leading up to WWII.
It might also benefit Ms. Merkel to do a more profound research
regarding what Ahmadinejab actually said, and it was NOT about 'wiping Israel off the face of the
of the earth'. That was a mistake in a translation done by an Ira
Iranian, but of course those who support the status quo grabbed it an
it up and ran with it immediately.

This woman is dangerous and should not take the word 'tolerance' in her mouth. What she is actually expressing is that she will support an unprovoked U.S. attack on Iran on purely ideological/political grounds.
Former German foreign minister von Ribbentropp was hanged for that in Nürnberg. Rightly so (if we for a moment forget that the Germans knew the Soviet Union were planning their own attack).
Starting an unneccessary war is a major crime against humanity and Mrs. Merkel is contributing to becoming a major criminal.
