Spanish 14-year-old bullfighter gored again in Mexico
Sep 4, 2007, 12:08 GMT
Madrid - Fourteen-year-old Spanish bullfighter Jairo Miguel, who was gored almost fatally in April in a Mexican bullring, has been injured there again by a bull's horn, Spanish press reported Tuesday.
Miguel was gored in the buttocks during a bullfight in Mexico City on Sunday. He finished the bullfight despite the injury, killing the bull.
The young torero was operated on, and was expected to stay two weeks at hospital.
In April, a bull's horn penetrated close to Miguel's heart and broke several of his ribs.
The incident raised controversy in Spain over child bullfighters, who perform in Latin America to evade a ban in Spain, where 18 years is the minimum age to face a bull.
Some see bullfighting by minors as a form of child abuse, while others compare it to the training of elite athletes who start at a young age.
