Airline passenger stung by scorpion
Sep 23, 2007, 15:21 GMT
Madrid - A passenger was stung by a scorpion while on board a scheduled flight from San Jose in Costa Rica to Madrid in Spain on Sunday.
The man, who was stung on his shoulder and a finger, was treated by a doctor travelling on the same flight, operated by Spanish carrier Iberia.
On landing at the airport in the Spanish capital, he received medicine and could return home.
'Someone must have smuggled the scorpion onto the aeroplane and let it out there,' an Iberia representative said. 'The motive is not clear.'
The victim had felt severe nausea after being stung by the creature, which was caught and killed by fellow passengers.
