About 160 Africans land on small Canary Island
Oct 16, 2007, 8:28 GMT
Canary Islands - A boat carrying 161 African undocumented immigrants landed Tuesday on the small western Canary Island of La Palma, Spanish officials said.
The male immigrants could be nationals of Guinea-Conakry, according to police sources. Eighteen of them appeared to be younger than 18 years old.
The boat, which landed in Tazacorte in the west of the island, was the first immigrant vessel to reach La Palma since December 2005. Most boats transporting African illegals head for Tenerife or Gran Canaria.
