Athens - Police arrested a 70-year-old barber near the northern port city of Thessaloniki after discovering hundreds of ancient coins and artefacts stashed away in his home, the Athens News Agency said Monday.
The man was arrested and charged with illicitly trading in antiquities after officials raided his home and discovered more than 2,300 ancient coins dating back to Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods.
Police believe the man acquired the coins through illegal digs.
The man has been taken into police custody.
