Serial infanticide suspected in Germany as third body found
Dec 5, 2007, 15:44 GMT
Plauen, Germany - Police investigating serial infanticide in eastern Germany said Wednesday they had found the remains of a third baby on an apartment balcony.
A woman, 28, who was bailed on Tuesday, was back in custody on triple homicide charges in Plauen, a town halfway between Berlin and Munich.
Police said she told interrogators she had given birth to three daughters, in February 2002, January 2004 and September 2005, and in each case the infants had 'died suddenly' soon after birth.
The inquiry began a week ago when a baby's body was found wrapped in plastic film in a suitcase inside a cupboard. Police said relations were looking after the woman's sons, who are aged 7 and 1.
