German president to vist Uganda, Rwanda
Jan 4, 2008, 13:24 GMT
Berlin - German President Horst Koehler is to visit Uganda and Rwanda from February 3-8 on his fifth trip to Africa since taking office in 2004, an official announcement said Friday.
Koehler, who formerly headed the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, has made Africa one of the main foreign policy themes of his presidency.
In mid-November, he toured Algeria and Mauritania.
Earlier that month he was joined by the presidents of Nigeria, Botswana, Mozambique and Benin for a Partnership with Africa conference in the German city of Eltville.
It was the third such gathering of the partnership, which advocates an open dialogue not dominated by the Europeans. Previous meetings were held in Bonn and Accra.
