T-Online name vanishes from top German media site
Jan 9, 2008, 12:13 GMT
Berlin - The name T-Online has been stripped from a major German tabloid news site and it is being relaunched as Bild.de, publishing group Axel Springer said Wednesday.
Springer had earlier bought out Deutsche Telekom's 37-per-cent stake in the site.
Bild.T-Online was set up in 2001 to appeal to a similar readership to that of Springer's flagship Bild, with stories about TV starlets, vice, cars and football, at a time when Telekom was eager to become a content provider.
Springer said in Berlin the former joint venture company was being renamed Bild Digital. It said an earlier relaunch had already borne fruit, with advertising revenues from the site up 40 per cent in 2007.
