It seems rather absurd that Turkey is looking for a seat on the security Council when it continues to occupy another UN member state and ignores The UN reolutions for withdrawing it's troops from cyprus. If Turkey does get elected , then the UN will loose it's credibility as a independent body.
Oh boo hoo. The work is full European hypocrits!
Greek Cyprus does not meet the criteria of a 'sovereign nation' as it is completely dependent on Greece, is a vassal of Greece, and openly aims to unite with Greece - therefore it is not a 'sovereign nation', thereby constitues an illegimate entity. Hence, the premise in which Greek arguments are based upon, 'Turks occupy Cyprus', is false.
However, if the argument is that Greek Cypriots possess 'legitimate exercise of power and the interpretation of international law by a state' and therefore constitue a sovereign nation, then so does the TRNC. Thus, in this context, international law and basic human rights were violated when admitting Greek Cyprus into the EU and completely ignoring the Turkish population of Cyprus.
