Poor weather delays attempt at record 40-kilometre skydive
May 26, 2008, 16:31 GMT
Washington - Poor weather on Monday delayed an attempt by French adventurer Michel Fournier to break several world records with a skydive from 40 kilometres above the Earth, the Star Phoenix newspaper in Canada's Saskatchewan province reported.
Other media reports said a problem with his oxygen system had caused the delay.
Another attempt from North Battleford, Saskatchewan is planned for early Tuesday.
Fournier, 64, plans to travel to the edge of the Earth's atmosphere in a balloon before skydiving back to the ground. If successful, he would break world records for the highest skydive, highest manned ballon flight, longest freefall and fastest freefall, the newspaper said.
