The Ukrainian policeman and protester were killed when some elements in UNMIK and the Albanian government tried to provocate a confrontation by very brutally handling the evacuation of a courtbuilding that had been occupied by protestors. The UN is nowadays investigating the affair.
The Serb protests against Kosovo's unilateral (and illegal) independence declaration were largely peaceful. At the time of the riots that killed two people Serbia's Kosovo minister was in Kosovo to discuss a peaceful evacuation of the court building. The pro-independent confrontationists didn't even bother to inform him of their plans to evacuate the building and instead went ahead without infroming him.
Yeahh the demonstrations were peaceful...
The protesters 'only' burned down two customs points and couple of parked vehicles. They had no bad intentions, as they were chanting 'kill or expel all Albanians...' etc.
What can I say... good intentions indeed. Same thing brought to the collapse of ex Yugoslavia and all the tragedies along.
