Hundreds of thousands attend Parisian Gay Pride
Jun 28, 2008, 16:24 GMT
Paris - More than half a million people took part in Gay Pride parade in Paris on Saturday in the motto 'for a school without any discrimination.'
The 2008 parade was dedicated to the fight against racism, sexism and xenophobia among young people.
Among the prominent participants in the parade was Paris mayor Bertrand Delanoe and former culture minister Jack Lang, both members of the Socialist Party.
The conservative governing party UMP and the centrist MoDem were also represented. The event as usual was to end with a dance at Paris' iconic Place de la Bastille.

During the past few decades the 'gay' people have been gradually accepted as a part of 'social mosaic'. When I read about so called 'Gay Pride parrades' I am scratching my head, since I can not understand how anyone can be 'proud' to be gay ? Anyone being proud on the basis of his/her race, religion, ethnicity or sex is indicating that one does NOT
have much else to offer to society and others. One ought to be 'proud' of one's contribution to others, one's accomplishment in various fields of human endeavor, but being 'proud' by just belonging to this or that group does NOT indicate ANYTHING about your true value as a human being.
Hi to all who are proud because of their CONTRIBUTION to the welbeing of the rest of society. Dankusti
