Rwanda genocide suspect detained in Sweden

Stockholm - A Rwandan national suspected of committing crimes against humanity during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda was detained Wednesday, Swedish police said.
Police were contacted by Rwandan embassy staff in Solna near Stockholm about the man who was brought in for questioning.
A prosecutor later decided that he should be held pending further investigation, police spokesman Mats Eriksson told Deutsche Presse- Agentur dpa.
Eriksson was not able to identify the man but said he lives in Denmark and had accompanied his wife to the embassy that where she was trying to renew identification papers.
Swedish broadcaster TV4 reported that the man has been probed in Denmark but subsequently released and awarded damages.
The 1994 genocide is estimated to have claimed the lives of 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus.
