Norway confirms Moscow move to freeze NATO cooperation (Extra)
Aug 20, 2008, 13:40 GMT
Oslo - Norway on Wednesday confirmed that Moscow has informed it that Russia was freezing its cooperation with the western NATO alliance.
The Foreign Ministry confirmed a report which had appeared earlier in the Aftenposten newspaper which had cited government sources as saying that Russia was cancelling its military cooperation with Norway and other NATO members.
The ministry did say that Oslo expected a continuation of the joint Norwegian-Russian coast guard operations on their border, since Moscow regards this as civilian cooperation.
