US warship docks in Georgia

Moscow/Tbilsi - A US warship docked in Georgia's Black Sea port of Poti on Monday in a marker of support for the post-Soviet state since its war with Russia in August.
The USS Taylor guided-missile frigate would stay for two-days during which the 20-member crew would join in cultural and community events, a spokesman for the US embassy in said. The US Navy had made similar port calls since 2001, he added.
Moscow strongly protested the United States' use of warships to deliver aide to its ally Georgia, which shares its coast with Russia, in the wake the five-day conflict.
Washington and NATO have since ramped up their presence in the Black Sea, where Russia's southern fleet is based.
