Police hold man in Germany, three killed in family bloodbath
Jan 25, 2009, 15:46 GMT
Saarlouis, Germany - German police were waiting Sunday to interview a man, 47, who was found drunk next to the stabbed and bludgeoned bodies of his wife and two of their children.
In what appeared to be the bloody end of a marital argument, the wife, 40, daughter, 20, and son, 6, had been killed with an axe and a butcher's knife in their home at Saarlouis, near the French border.
A three-year-old son survived the bloodbath uninjured. A woman friend of the family discovered the carnage at their house Saturday evening and called police.
The suspect was slumped near the bodies and had apparently drunk a large amount of alchol.
Police said they did not expect to be able to hear his account of the violence till later Sunday. Police added that they were told the couple had had a long-running dispute with one another.
