A car has crashed into a church roof in Limbach-Oberfrohna, Germany, 26 Janaury 2009. The 23 year-old driver from Chemnitz was severely injured in the accident. According to the police he missed a turn - obviously driving too fast - continued straight ahead on a slightly rising field and then \'took off\' to land in the church roof. EPA/Michael Pape
Chemnitz, Germany - A speeding motorist landed on the roof of a church in a freak accident in Germany, police said Monday.
The 23-year-old driver was severely injured in the mishap, which occured late Sunday in Limbach-Oberfrohna, in the eastern state of Saxony.
Police said the man missed his turn and continued at high-speed on a field sloping upwards that acted as a ramp.
'He literally took off, flew 30 metres and landed in the church roof,' police spokesman Knut Wagner said. 'I've never seen anything like it.'
