Vikersund, Norway - Anssi Koivuranta of Finland all but assured himself of the World Cup title in Nordic combined skiing on Saturday when he won the penultimate competition of the season.
Koivuranta dominated the ski-jumping round and then cruised to his seventh season victory in 26 minutes 3.9 seconds for the 10- kilometres cross-country pursuit.
World champion Bill Demong of the United States came second 6.5 points behind the winner and Norway's Magnus Moan was third, 13.2 seconds off the pace.
Koivuranta tops the World Cup standings with 1,429 points from 23 events and is 99 points ahead of Moan who has 1,330. Demong has 1,060 for third place.
Moan can only steal the title in Sunday's season finale if he wins and Koivuranta doesn't finish better than 30th.
