Vikersund, Norway - Austrian teenager Gregor Schlierenzauer kept his balance on Sunday to clinch the ski-jumping World Cup title with a stylish victory on the Norwegian ski-flying hill.
Schlierenzauer, 19, soared 207.5 metres and 192 metres for a winning total of 386.4 points the day after failing to stand massive leaps of 213m and 224m in what he considered a too long in-run in a team event.
Simon Ammann of Switzerland was second with 191m and 202.5m for 379.7 points and Russia's Dimitry Vassiliev had 184m and 204m for third place with 372.2 points.
Schlierenzauer has amassed a World Cup record 1,938 points and can not be caught by Ammann (1,674) and Austrian Wolfgang Loitzl (1,356) in the final two events next week on the flying hill in Planica, Slovenia.
Sunday's success was his 12th win of the season to tie the record of Finland's Janne Ahonen, and the 23rd overall.
