Austrian police brace for memorial service for slain Sikh guru

Jun 2, 2009, 10:36 GMT

Vienna - Vienna police were bracing Tuesday for a memorial service in honour of a Sikh guru killed in last week's deadly attack on a temple in Austria - which also caused violent unrest in India.

Six Indian-born men opened fire during a religious service on May 24, killing sect leader Niranjan Dass and injuring guru Rama Nand Dass and more than a dozen other followers.

'We are deploying a fair number of plainclothes and uniformed officers to make sure that things go smoothly,' Vienna police spokesman Michael Takacs said hours before Niranjan Dass's body was set to be laid out at the Zentralfriedhof, the largest cemetery in Austria's capital.

However, there were no specific intelligence that anyone was planning to disrupt the memorial event of the Dera Sach Khand sect, which mostly has followers among the Dalit or low-caste Sikhs.

So far, investigators have made little headway in finding out which movement might have been behind the attack.

Besides the sect's temple, there are two other mainstream temples in Vienna, but police have so far not been able to confirm that the attackers belong to these other groups.

There are several Deras, or sects, across the northern Indian states of Punjab and Haryana. Mainstream Sikhs often consider those sects as deviating from true Sikh religion and practices.

Letters by groups claiming responsibility that have surfaced since the attack, but are not considered to be authentic, Takacs said.

Early last week, violent protests erupted in Punjab and Haryana after news spread of the Vienna incident, leaving three dead and at least 30 injured.

The surviving guru is expected to be flown to India in the coming days, along with the remains of the slain sect leader.

I would like to correct that Sikhs do not follow human Gurus after the last human Guru Gobind Singh merged with the Divine light in 1708. He commanded all Sikhs to follow Guru Granth Sahib (Sikh scriptures in the form of Living Guru) which is universal. Media reports have been misleading by calling these men as Sikh Gurus. I feel people that committed these acts against these sants and others that are involved in violence in Austria and India destroying public property are misguided. I hope they all find peace no matter what Gurdwara or religion they follow. For more information on Sikhs, please visit:

The Thousand Pound GOI Gorilla (Jume 8, 2009)

The article fails to report on the “1000 pound gorilla” in the 'Punjab cage': splinter Sikh movements and 'sects' (e.g. Narankarias, Sucha Sauda, Saucha Khanda) are largely Government sponsored and financed. They are part of the Brahminist Regime's ongoing strategy to divide, control and denigrate the Sikhs: create a religion split between the Jat Sikhs (the backbone of Sikhdom; 70% of Sikhs) & other Sikhs (who have more rights in Sikh society & culture than in the Brahminist-dominated Hindu society).

Elements of Indian intelligence networks (RAW) and fascist Brahminist organizations (e.g. Arya Samaj, RSS, BJP) work in concert to engage in 'false-flag' operations that promote the split and generate negative press for Sikhs internationally. Remember Indian Govt-sponsored terrorist groups such as 'Black Cats' and 'Kuka-Parrey' from the 80-90s given the cover of “Sikh terrorists” & “Muslim terrorists” by the Indian media.

One week before the upcoming 25th anniversary of the Brahminist attack on the Golden Temple on June 5, 1984 (the “Sikh Vatican”) and 48 other religious places in Punjab, the terrorist Brahminist nexus has just conveniently created another two distractions from their genocide: i) a 'Sikh-Muslim” distraction in Chopian, Kashmir (after Chattisgarh) and ii) a “Sikh violence” distraction in Austria. The victims of Brahminist terror have once again been turned into “terrorists” and aggressors!
