Rossi leaves Lazio after Italian Cup triumph
Jun 8, 2009, 14:05 GMT
Rome - Coach Delio Rossi on Monday announced his departure from Lazio after four seasons at the helm of the Rome club.
'It's over. The club decided to take a new technical direction,' Rossi said.
'It's difficult for me to interrupt this relationship, but it's a choice I reflected on because lately I realized that I was not at the heart of Lazio's tactical projects.'
Rossi said he leaves Lazio 'with a serene heart' and with the best memory tied to the Stadio Olimpico for this season's Italian Cup success.
Winning the national cup granted Lazio a berth in the Europa League, which next season replaces the UEFA Cup. With Rossi, Lazio secured qualification to the Champions League in the previous two seasons.
