Finnish police expand murder probe against home care worker
Jun 30, 2009, 13:26 GMT
Helsinki - A murder probe against a 58-year-old Finnish home care worker has been expanded to five suspected murders and at least eight attempted murders, Finnish police said Tuesday.
Before Tuesday's announcement the charge sheet against the care worker was four suspected murders and seven attempted murders.
The investigation is continuing, Finnish news agency STT reported.
The alleged crimes occurred between 2004 and 2009 and took place at several hospitals, nursing homes and the homes of the victims in the Helsinki area.
The suspected woman has been in custody since March and has refuted the allegations.
Police were alerted about the suspect after they were informed about an elderly woman who was admitted to hospital suffering from poisoning, who had been cared for by the home care worker.
