Real Madrid's De la Red unlikely to play again next season
Jun 30, 2009, 15:56 GMT
Madrid - Real Madrid midfielder Ruben de la Red is unlikely to play again next season, according to the websites of AS and Marca on Tuesday.
Spanish international De la Red, 25, collapsed during the October 2008 cup clash against third division Real Irun, and has not played since, amidst fears about him having a serious heart condition.
De la Red's agent, Manuel Garcia Quilon, had a meeting with the club on Tuesday about the player's medical condition.
After eight months of exhaustive tests, the Real doctors have not discovered De la Red's problem - and will not allow him to play again until they have.
Spanish football has been very sensitive about players' heart problems since the death of Sevilla left-back Antonio Puerta in August 2007, after a massive heart attack.
