Iran condemns courtroom murder of Muslim woman in Germany
Jul 9, 2009, 15:40 GMT
Tehran - Iran on Thursday sharply condemned the murder of a Muslim woman who was killed inside a court in the German city of Dresden a week ago, and called her a martyr.
'A murder in a supposedly safe place such as a courtroom and in the presence of police officers shows the daily growing hatred towards immigrants and religious minorities in Germany,' said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Ghashghavi.
'There can be no justification (of Germany) in such a catastrophe,' Ghashghavi added.
Marwa el-Shirbini, 31, an Egyptian, was stabbed 18 times by a German man of Russian descent as she was about to give evidence in a court case against him on July 1 in Dresden.
El-Shirbini had sued the assailant, 28, for damages after he insulted her for wearing a scarf as they were both spending time with their own children on a city playground.
Her husband, Elwy Okaz, 32, was seriously wounded as he tried to save her in the courtroom.
Ghashghavi called on the member countries of the Islamic Conference to form a special committee to investigate such racist incidents and prevent their happening again.
Iranian state television on Wednesday broadcast programmes for several hours on the Dresden incident.
After complaints in Germany's Muslim community that the government had been mealy mouthed, a government spokesman in Berlin on Wednesday said, 'This repulsive crime shocks and appalls us.'
He denied that Berlin had previously remained silent about the case, which has led to anti-German demonstrations in Egypt.

Fy=unny they did not comment on the other 6m - not only they did not comment, they denied it! Some blood is thicker than others in their books
No one is condoning to any of these actions,the one mentioned in this article nor the one mentioned by you. Your response in terms of what Iran has done against that American citizen seems rather irrelevant to the above matter. So should the Iraqi's that were in American custody form a committe then to seek justice for the atrocities committed?(I am just using this as an example based on what was cited by the comment made) So would it be fair for me to make a general sweeping statement like the one you have made? The above matter had nothing to do with America but rather the fact that such a thing could have happened in a court of law, where justice was meant to be served in a civil manner. If this had happened to anyone (which meant that this could have possibly happened to any American) would it make it more of a just cause for a committe to be set-up then to seek justice?
This is really sad , how can such a killing be allowed , this has to be dealt with very very seriously and also the policeman who was dumb enough to not know whom to shoot, that police man is also a part of the killing he should also be punished to death. I am not a muslim, I am a hindu, but i guess I am a human being first and it pains to see people being hurt on the name of religion. Stop this, i know a lot of muslim friends who are good. So stop this for the sake of humanity lets not kill each other, it pains a lot to see loved ones being lost .. stop this.
let her die in hell
i am surprised that the woman was stabbed 18 times.... how the heck did he got so much time to do it.... and also that woman's husband was shot ACCIDENTIALY by the guards.... sounds fishy !!!

...let's form that committee and when they are done, let's return them to Iran and investigate the death of an American citizen, raped and then brutally beaten to death in Iranian custoday.
