Six killed in fire in apartment building in Stockholm

Stockholm - Six people, including three children between the ages of one and 10, were killed in a fire at an apartment building in the Swedish capital of Stockholm, police said Sunday.
Three other people were severely injured in the blaze at the six- storey building.
No information was available as to the cause of the fire in the Stockholm's northern Rinkeby neighbourhood. The fire broke out Saturday evening shortly after 10:00 pm (2000 GMT) in a basement apartment. Witnesses spoke of hearing explosion-like noises.
Several residents suffocated after being trapped in a lift during the fire.
Rinkeby has a high percentage of residents of immigrant background.
